Let’s talk about the 660mm Carbon Infrared Lamp

Standard quartz heaters are fine, but they don’t hit the same way. The carbon filament here is different. It targets your materials more directly, so you aren’t just guessing if the center is warm.

The Power Side of Things

We’re looking at 220V and 1000W over a 660mm stretch. It’s a sweet spot. We balanced the wattage so you get plenty of heat flux without frying the filament the moment you flip the switch. It plays nice with most industrial controllers. Just a heads-up: carbon elements have a bit of a “kick” when they first start up. Make sure your power supply can handle that initial surge of current so you don’t trip a breaker.

Why Carbon and Clear Quartz?

The clear quartz tube is there for one reason: to get the heat out of the way. It lets short-wave radiation fly straight through without getting trapped. Now, the carbon element is the real secret. It doesn’t need to get as screamingly hot as tungsten to do its job, but it’s way better at actually transferring that energy. You get more heat moving into your workpiece and less of it just warming up the air in the room. One big warning, though. The clear glass is great for performance, but it’s sensitive. If you touch the quartz with your bare hands, the oils from your skin stay there. When the lamp heats up, those fingerprints create “hot spots” that can make the whole tube shatter. Use gloves. Every time.

Where this actually fits in

You’ll see these working hard in PET blowing machines, paint curing lines, or plastic welding setups. That 660mm size is perfect for covering a wide area in an oven bank. The best part? They ramp up almost instantly. No more standing around waiting for the machine to warm up. Just remember to use a solid reflector. You want that energy pushed forward into your product, not soaking into your machine frame and heating up the whole shop.
