Why carbon fiber? Well, for starters, it’s just better than the old-school nichrome wire. It handles electricity more efficiently and doesn’t freak out when things get hot. When you flip the switch, the fiber turns that power into radiant heat without wasting a ton of energy. We specifically tuned these to emit long-wave infrared. Here’s why that matters: it won’t sear your skin if you get too close. You can put these elements right where you need them without worrying about accidental burns. It’s a much gentler experience.
Fitting Them In
To keep the fibers from wearing out, we tuck them inside quartz or ceramic sleeves. They’re slim, too. We made sure the footprint is small enough that you can slide them into thin sauna panels without having to rebuild your entire wall. Setting them up is pretty easy. We use standard terminal lugs, so you can just plug them in and go. **One big warning, though:**check your controller. Make sure it can handle the wattage of the carbon array. If you push too much voltage through the system, you’ll fry the filaments in a heartbeat. And that’s a headache nobody wants.
The Trade-off
Look, these aren’t industrial drying tunnels. You aren’t going to get that “instant blast” of heat the second you turn them on. It takes a little longer for the warmth to soak into the space. It’s a softer, more consistent heat. Because of that, you’ll want to be smart about your panel surface area. Give yourself enough coverage so the room hits that perfect temperature in a reasonable amount of time.
