If you’re dealing with a process that needs heat—and needs it now—this is the tool for the job. We built this 560mm, 1500W lamp for those moments when you can’t afford to wait around for a heater to warm up. Instead of the usual quartz setup, we went with a carbon fiber filament tucked inside a quartz envelope. It’s a different beast entirely.
The Power and the Fit
1500W is a lot of juice packed into 560mm. We calibrated the power distribution to be linear, which is just a fancy way of saying you get a steady, concentrated blast of heat. It sinks into your materials much faster than those old-school coils. Plus, the 560mm length is a sweet spot. It lets you cover a wider area without having to overlap multiple lamps. That’s a big deal because overlapping usually leads to those annoying “hot spots” that ruin a cure.
Why Carbon Fiber?
Here is the thing about carbon fiber: it doesn’t need to get as scorching hot as tungsten to put out a massive amount of infrared radiation. That means you aren’t wasting energy just heating up the air around the part. You’re hitting the target. And since it’s carbon fiber, it doesn’t “burn out” nearly as fast as metal coils do, even if you’re flipping the power on and off all day. The ramp-up is basically instant. If you’re running a conveyor belt where a part is only under the lamp for a few seconds, that speed is everything.
A Few Things to Watch Out For
I’ll be honest with you—this thing isn’t indestructible. First, make sure your power supply is stable. Voltage spikes can snap the filament, and that’s a headache nobody wants. Second, treat the quartz glass like it’s a piece of fine china.**Do not touch the envelope with your bare hands.**The oils from your skin create tiny stress points. Once the lamp hits high heat, those points can cause the glass to fail prematurely. Use gloves. One last tip: because we’re pushing 1500W into such a compact frame, things get hot. Really hot. Make sure your ventilation is dialed in and your cooling fans are actually doing their job. You don’t want your reflectors warping or your wiring insulation melting into a puddle. If you’re still using aging halogen tubes, swap them out for these. You’ll likely see your cycle times drop immediately.
