Getting the Most Out of Our 800mm 2000W Carbon Infrared Lamps

We built these carbon heating elements for the tough jobs—the ones where you need a massive amount of heat and you need it now. At 2000W stretched across 800mm, you get a nice, wide spread of warmth. It’s powerful, but it doesn’t just blast one spot and burn a hole in your project.

The Secret Sauce: Carbon and Quartz

Here’s the thing about the heat: we use a carbon filament tucked inside high-purity quartz. Why carbon? Because it handles the heat way better than the old-school nichrome wire. When you flip the switch, it doesn’t just warm up—it hits its stride almost instantly. It’s a great fit for things like PET preform ovens or big drying tunnels. Just a heads-up: keep your power supply steady. If your voltage starts spiking, you’ll fry that filament in no time.

A Few Warnings on the Build

That quartz tube isn’t just for looks. It seals the carbon core so it doesn’t oxidize and snap the moment it hits the air. But remember, quartz is fragile. It’s basically glass. If you drop it or get too aggressive with the mounting clips, it’ll crack. Be gentle. Also, depending on what you’re heating, you might want a coated version to tweak how the heat hits your target. Just let us know.

Installation and the “Catch”

You can wire these in series or parallel, depending on what your voltage looks like. But here is the real talk: 2000W is a lot of energy. Your housing is going to feel it. If you don’t have your fans and ventilation dialed in, your reflectors will warp. Worse, if the air doesn’t move, the heat creeps back into the lamp ends and eats away at the electrodes. It’s a bit of a trade-off. You get an incredible amount of heat density, but you have to keep the system cool if you want the lamps to actually last.
