Let’s Talk Carbon Fiber IR Tubes
If you need heat—and you need it now—carbon fiber infrared tubes are your best bet. Most people are used to old-school metal coils, but we do things differently. We take carbon fiber filaments and wrap them in a quartz envelope. It changes the way the heat hits your material. Instead of just warming the surface, it digs deeper and gets up to temperature way faster. It’s a huge time-saver. The nitty-gritty on power Here is the thing: the wattage and voltage basically decide how much punch you get per square centimeter. When you go for a high-wattage tube, you’re getting a concentrated blast of energy. That means you can stop wasting time on long pre-heat cycles. Plus, carbon fiber is tougher than tungsten. It doesn’t sag or snap when it gets hot and cools down over and over again. You get a steady, reliable heat profile from one end of the tube to the other. How they’re built We use high-purity quartz because it can handle the heat without warping. Depending on what you’re doing, we can add special coatings to the glass. If you’re just drying a surface, you want one wavelength; if you’re heating a thick piece of plastic, you want another. And don’t worry about the install. We usually use R7s or Sk15 bases. You just pop the old one out and drop the new one in. No need to tear apart your wiring or spend all afternoon rewiring the chassis. A few things to watch out for Now, these tubes put out a massive amount of heat. That’s great for getting your products through the line faster, but it does put some pressure on your power supply. If you cram too much wattage into a tiny space, you might roast your surrounding housing. Just make sure your fans or heat sinks are up to the task. You’ll mostly see these in PET blowing, paint curing, or shrink wrapping. They’re a breath of fresh air compared to those slow convection ovens. Instead of heating the whole room, you target the product directly. It’s cleaner, faster, and wastes a lot less energy.
