Carbon Fiber Infrared Quartz Heat Lamps: Built for PET Bottle Blowing
We built these carbon fiber infrared quartz heat lamps for one reason: to make PET bottle blowing smoother. The aim is straightforward—get heat to the preform fast, keep it under control, and never scorch the material. You end up with a focused heat source that slips right into automated blow molding cells without a fuss.
Power, Voltage, and Output—What It Means on the Floor
These lamps come in 800W, 1000W, and 1500W so you can match the heat to the preform wall thickness and your cycle time. More wattage means a shorter heating window and more output, sure. But it also means the reflector and machine enclosure carry more heat. We spec these for standard industrial voltages so the wiring stays simple and the control gear doesn’t get complicated. The tube design keeps the heating zone tight. That cuts down on stray heat and helps the temperature stay repeatable across the preform. If you run a 1500W unit at full duty cycle, your cooling and airflow have to keep up. Otherwise the reflector and socket run hot, and that shortens the life.
Why Carbon Fiber and Quartz? Because They Actually Earn Their Keep
The heart of the design is a carbon fiber filament inside a quartz envelope. The quartz tube handles high heat without getting wobbly, and the carbon fiber filament gives you a tough resistive path that can take quick power changes without burning out. The IR output sits in the shortwave range, which means fast response and dense heat—exactly what you need to soften PET quickly. The R7s base is the practical choice for this footprint. It holds steady mechanically, carries current well, and drops straight into standard ceramic holders. If your machine uses something different, we can spec the lamp to match, but R7s is the workhorse for this class of heater.
On the Line: Benefits You Can Feel in PET Blowing
In PET bottle blowing, you need heat on demand, with positioning you can count on and output that behaves predictably. These lamps do that by heating the preform surface directly, so you get fast, even softening without overheating the neck finish. The payoff is consistent biaxial stretching and fewer pinholes and stress marks. We built the lamp for real production life—stable output over time, resistance to thermal cycling, and a footprint that fits tight heating stations. The trade-off is thermal management. High power means you have to keep the lamp, reflector, and socket within their temperature limits. Size the cooling right, keep the airflow clean, and the lamp will hold its output for thousands of hours. When the machine is set up correctly, it’s the kind of component you spec once and then forget about.
