Why we build our corner saunas the way we do
When we put together these 3-person corner saunas, we do things a bit differently. Instead of using those old-school ceramic or quartz elements, we go with carbon heaters. The idea is simple: we want a steady, deep heat that actually gets into your muscles and joints. You don’t need the air to be scorching hot—like those Finnish saunas where you feel like you’re breathing fire—to get the benefits.
The secret is in the carbon
We use a conductive carbon filament because it lets us spread the heat across a much wider area. Think of it like the difference between a spotlight and a soft lamp. You don’t get those annoying “hot spots” where one part of your back is burning while the rest is barely warm. It’s just a smooth, even glow. And for those of you who worry about EMF (electromagnetic fields), we’ve got you covered. A lot of cheap saunas have messy wiring or low-grade transformers that pump out way too much interference. We use shielded cabling and precision-wound coils to keep that noise down. It just feels cleaner.
Why Canadian Hemlock?
The whole frame is made from Canadian Hemlock. We picked this wood for a reason. It doesn’t warp when it gets hot, and more importantly, it doesn’t leak sticky resin all over your towel when the temperature climbs. It’s a sturdy, reliable home for the heating panels. Since it’s a corner unit, it fits into those awkward spaces in your house perfectly. But there’s a hidden perk: the 90-degree walls actually bounce the heat back toward the center. You end up wrapped in a cozy pocket of warmth.
A few honest things to keep in mind
Now, carbon heaters aren’t “instant.” They provide a softer, gentler heat than those intense near-infrared lamps that blast you the second you turn them on. It takes a little longer to reach that peak temperature, so just give it a few minutes to do its thing. One last tip: make sure your power circuit is stable. If your voltage drops, the carbon strips can heat unevenly, and you might find some panels aren’t pulling their weight during your session. Keep the power steady, and you’re golden.
